The Admissions Committee takes a holistic approach to admissions to assess a candidate for our PharmD program.
Our 2.75 GPA metric is important, but many other features of a candidate’s background are thoroughly reviewed to include, but not limited to; letters of recommendation, application essay, supplemental questions, leadership and volunteer experience (pharmacy-related and other), work experience, co-curricular activities, motivation, candidate’s background, and the desire to become a pharmacist.

The minimum science GPA to apply is 2.75. Applicants need to show their ability to perform well academically to succeed in a professional program and a rigorous curriculum. The committee looks at several GPAs (e.g., Science GPA, Overall GPA, Pre-req GPA, and even by year and specific subjects and classes).
The supplemental questions on the PharmCAS application allow you to reveal your thoughts about your strengths as a person and areas of personal development you believe you need to improve. The essay communicates motivation, goals, circumstances, and experiences related to a pharmacy career. Candidates should provide complete and in-depth information in response to the supplemental questions and essay topics in PharmCAS.
Three letters are required from separate references (PharmCAS accepts up to four). The Admissions Committee requires letters from (1) a pharmacist and (2) a science professor (3) a professional that can vouch for your character. A reference can be anyone who knows you well who is not a relative. For example, this can be a supervisor or other professional.
Student organizations, community service, volunteering, and work experience are just a few examples. Leadership experiences are highly valued. While pharmacy experience is not a requirement for admission, it is strongly recommended. The experience gained by being exposed to pharmacy practice is invaluable and provides the opportunity to establish a relationship with a pharmacist that may later be used as a reference.
Once the Admissions Committee reviews the applicant’s file, selected candidates will be notified via email, inviting the applicant for an interview.
