How do I import pdf books into iTunes?

So far, I've read through a bunch of other Q & A's and have gotten iTunes downloaded onto my PC. I have several books in pdf format on a cd that I would like to upload to my iPad. I can't seem to get them into iTunes so I can put them on my iPad. Could someone please help me with this? I really don't want to buy the books again. :(

OK, I downloaded iBooks onto my PC and it did show up on the left-hand side 'inside' Apps under the heading 'Library' within iTunes; however, I'm not seeing anything remotely related to file sharing. I'm affraid I'm lost again.

Open itunes. On the top left is an option for 'books'. Drag your PDF files from wherever they are into that window.

You can also open iTunes and under 'file' choose 'add to library'. Navigate to the PDF files and choose them and let iTunes process them.

Then with your device selected in iTunes. open the books tab on the top and you should see your pdf's there. Choose which ones you want on the device and sync.
